. . ., quarter, dollar, some quality ferret food, litter, cleaning supplies?
You get the idea.
Ferrets Unlimited Rescue Services is very much in need of your support heading into the end of this year and moving forward into the future.
Like all of us, this stubborn and uncertain economy has hit us very hard. Adoptions are down, and donations are very slow right now. The two items that we wish would go down -- the number of surrender applications we are receiving and the amount of our veterinary bills -- are headed the other way. Big-time. There's never a shortage of ferrets needing love, care, and a forever home.
We are not too proud to say that we are hurting! And, so are our kids.
As a result of our current situation, we cannot take in any more surrenders at this time, and our waiting list for surrenders is doubtlessly going to increase. We will be doing our best to rehome ferrets into new families without bringing the ferrets into the rescue and/or working with other ferret rescue organizations who may be able to take them. We will continue to monitor potential surrenders and to accept surrender applications. And, as is our policy, we will assign priority to strays and turn-ins from humane societies and local animal control offices.
But, our inn is very full right now, and it would be irresponsible of us to continue to take in ferrets for which we can't adequately care. Agonizing though it may be, this is the reality we are facing.
As if this weren't enough of a challenge, our fearless intake coordinator, Crystal Walko, is having surgery at the beginning of November! Since most of our FURS kids are housed at Crystal's, we have to add temporary quarters for many of her ferrets to our wish list! Crystal will be off her feet for 6 to 8 weeks following her surgery, so all of us - ferts and humans alike - will be missing her efforts.
SO . . . .
You've read our tale of woe. Can you help?
Absolutely. You can, and you have in the past. Please, please look into your hearts and give what you can to help us continue our work of rescuing, caring for, and finding homes for the wonderful ferrets who come to us.

We are all so grateful for the love, concern, and care that you continally show to the ferrets who come to us. Thank you so much for supporting our efforts.
